While much of the fanbase and even pundits on this site have clamored for Trey Burke minutes in 2019-20, the expectation is Brett Brown will lean on Raul Neto for backup point guard minutes next season — at least to begin the season.
Once a starter in Utah, Neto provides the steady hand Brown has always valued behind Ben Simmons. He’s more skilled than T.J. McConnell — he’s a decent shooter, can create in the pick-and-roll, etc. — but he’s also a hard-nosed defender who limits mistakes.
The Sixers are in title contention mode, which means Brown’s focus will be more risk-adverse than years past.
