If you listen to the chatter, Zion Williamson will come into the NBA and be a one-man wrecking crew. The New Orleans Pelicans, who currently hold the No. 1 pick in the draft, would in the playoffs crush the Golden State Warriors in four straight and have Draymond Green stalk off the court, having been helpless to stop Williamson dominate the game.
Of course, the the ghosts of past No. 1 draft busts follow any selection until they prove it on the hardwood when the NBA season begins. Names like Greg Oden, Kwame Brown, Kent Benson, Michael Olowakandi and (as of now) Markelle Fultz show the folly of assuming just because a player is the first one drafted will be a star.
