While one of the common refrains from among Philadelphia 76ers fans this season has been the team’s need for a backup ball handler, veteran guard Patrick Beverley shouted from the rooftops over the past week that “he’s got this.” Across three games in which the Sixers went 1-2, Beverley averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. The pièce de resistance was his 26-point, 8-rebound, 7-assist effort against the Boston Celtics on Friday, in which he almost carried a Philadelphia squad without Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to victory. The 26 points tied a career-high for Beverley, originally set on April 2, 2017 while with the Houston Rockets.
