Sixers team president Daryl Morey recently hinted that he’ll be going big-game hunting this offseason, as Liberty Ballers’ Paul Hudrick wrote last week. Armed with up to nearly $65 million in salary-cap space this offseason, the Sixers could afford to sign a max free agent and still have nearly $17 million in cap space left over, along with the $8.0 million room mid-level exception.
It’s fair to wonder whether a three-max model is the right approach under the league’s new collective bargaining agreement, but that ship appears to have already sailed.
