The first major shoe to drop in this year’s NBA free agency period will be LeBron James’ decision on whether to opt-in to his one-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, or whether he will be entering free agency.
He has until Friday at 11:59 p.m. to make that decision, and speculative chaos will almost certainly ensue. The free agency moratorium period begins on Sunday at midnight. This is when teams and players can reach handshake agreements, but those deals can’t become official until July 6.
Where will James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and the rest of this year’s talent available through free agency and/or trades wind up?
