A Camden municipal judge postponed a hearing on Jahlil Okafor's speeding charge to Feb. 18 after an attorney for the Philadelphia 76ers center alleged a conflict of interest in the case Thursday.
Andrew Smith said Okafor had already agreed in November to a plea deal in which the reckless-driving charge was dismissed and a charge of driving at an excessive rate of speed was amended to one of operating in an unsafe manner, to which he pleaded guilty.
Smith said Okafor paid a $439 fee for the charges, but that the check was not accepted because the city's law office, led by City Attorney Marc Riondino, decided it wanted to vacate the plea agreement.
