While the new All-Star format was lacking a televised event, there was still plenty of excitement surrounding who LeBron James and Stephen Curry would pick. When the selections were announced, that excitement boiled over into an all-out frenzy on NBA Twitter.
LeBron picked Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, while Curry managed to avoid another Giannis Antetokounmpo poster. The Philadelphia 76ers‘ lone All-Star, Joel Embiid, also ended up on Team Curry.
In general, All-Star games don’t matter. It’s a friendly between a bunch of stars who normally aren’t trying, so taking anything major away from the game itself is a mistake.
