According to the Sixers’ official injury report issued at 5:30 PM EST, Joel Embiid (left knee soreness - load management) is DOUBTFUL for tomorrow afternoon’s Game 1 against the Brooklyn Nets.
Embiid missed a three-game road trip, an absence that the Sixers described as precautionary. But he was then a game-time decision when the Sixers returned home, ultimately playing 37 minutes in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Two nights later, Embiid played just under 28 minutes in a win against the Chicago Bulls, before resting for the final two games of the season.
Sixers GM Elton Brand raised some eyebrows when he said before the Sixers’ season finale on Wednesday that he was “optimistic” Embiid would be ready for the playoffs, but it wasn’t a sure thing.
