Jared McCain showed promising flashes in up-and-down Summer League

By overall offensive production and efficiency, Summer League didn’t quite go as hoped for Jared McCain.

Through eight games, the Sixers’ 16th overall pick from this summer’s NBA Draft averaged 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists (to 1.6 turnovers) and 0.8 steals, with not-so-pretty shooting percentages of 28.6 overall and 5.5 from three on 6.8 attempts a game. The busy summer schedule seemed to slow McCain down later on in some second halves. At times, he also struggled creating as much separation to get downhill for clearer layups or floaters, or for his mid-range pull-ups.
