JaKarr Sampson Finalizing Deal With Denver Nuggets

The Philadelphia 76ers didn’t make many big moves this season at the trade deadline, but they did make a trade acquiring Joel Anthony and a second-round draft pick. The Sixers’ roster was already full with 15 players, so someone had to be released in order to make the deal final. JaKarr Sampson was put on the waiver wire, but the implication — at least most fans thought — was that Sampson would be brought back to the team after Anthony — a player the Sixers don’t really need — was to be released.

Some late issues with the Anthony trade, though, made it so the deal was postponed, and pushed toward the Sunday 5pm waiver wire, when Sampson was to be declared a free agent.
