It is the tiniest of exaggerations to say that Nick Dawkins is every inch his father’s son. Tough to do, given that his departed dad, Darryl, was a large human being and a larger-than-life presence.
Certainly, though, Nick looks and sounds like Darryl. Certainly he carries himself like his dad, one of the most colorful guys to ever play for the Sixers. Even wears the same uniform number and plays the same position — center — albeit in a different sport.
Poke around Penn State’s football team — for which Nick, a fifth-year senior, will be a first-time starter this season — and the parallels become crystal clear.
