How Philadelphia’s havoc-wreaking defense is helping them scrape by

Through shooting slumps, star injuries, and a few disappointingly ineffective role players, the Philadelphia 76ers’ defense has been good this season. Not amazing, just good. But, amidst this 8-16 start, “just good” is rare. It’s great!

The team’s 111.9 defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions, a more favorable stat than simply points allowed as it accounts for differences in pace between teams) is 12th in the NBA.
