THE PROCESS is hurting The Homie.
Joel Embiid's dominant rookie season combined with years of self-promotion delivered a rookie to the NBA the likes of which was never before seen. Charismatic and effective - he averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks - he had the rookie of the year award sewn up by Christmas.
But Embiid lasted only 31 games (20 of them losses) before he suffered a season-ending knee injury and, of course, fell out of the rookie of the year discussion.
Except, he didn't. Somehow, Embiid remains a viable ROY candidate, which should make you either LOL or SYDH.
