Harris: drafting Embiid was "smart risk"

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The 76ers probably made a few decisions they want to reconsider. We all have. But managing owner Josh Harris does not regret using the third overall pick in the 2014 draft to select Joel Embiid.

“An elite big man is very hard to come by in this league,” Harris said. “I think when we drafted Joel , I think it was a reasoned risk, a smart risk.”

But the 7-footer had bone-graft surgery in August to repair the navicular bone in his right foot. He will miss the entire season. This comes after the former Kansas standout, selected third in 2014, missed what would have been his rookie season after surgery six days before the 2014 to repair a stress fracture in the same bone.
