Furkan Korkmaz assigned to Delaware 87ers

In a move that isn’t exactly unexpected, the Philadelphia 76ers have assigned rookie swingman Furkan Korkmaz to the Delaware 87ers, according to Derek Bodner of The Athletic. Korkmaz was inactive for the Sixers’ first four games before logging a DNP-Coach’s Decision in Wednesday night’s loss to the Houston Rockets.

Despite a strong preseason run, Korkmaz’s rookie season will clearly be centered around development. He’s still not strong enough to defend NBA wings, while his offensive game — outside of a smooth stroke from deep — still has room left to grow.

The Sixers, when Markelle Fultz is in the rotation, haven’t relied much on natural wing players either.
