Former Sixers point guard Mo Cheeks Hall of Fame finalist

LOS ANGELES – Mo Cheeks is one step away from reaching basketball immortality.

The former four-time all-star point guard and 76ers legend was among 13 finalists selected Saturday for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The 2018 Hall of Fame inductees will be announced at the Final Four in San Antonio on March 31. The Class of 2018 will be enshrined during Hall of Fame festivities in Springfield, Mass., on Sept. 6-8.

Chris Webber, another former Sixer, is another finalist. The others are former players Ray Allen, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill and Steve Nash; former women’s players Katie Smith and Tina Thompson; coaches Lefty Driesell, Rudy Tomjanovich and Kim Mulkey; referee Hugh Evans and 1954-58 Wayland Baptist University women’s basketball team.
