Paul George might have been the Sixers’ biggest home run of the offseason, but re-signing Kelly Oubre Jr. to a two-year, $16.3 million contract via the room mid-level exception was at least a solid double. Oubre has a $8.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season that he figures to decline so he can test free agency again next summer.
That contract structure was deliberate. Whether from the Sixers or another team, Oubre could be poised to cash in next offseason.
This offseason, the salary cap went up less than 4 percent year over year.
