Delaware 87ers guard Russ Smith, a former college standout at Louisville, set an NBA Developmental League scoring record last night by piling up 65 points in a 140-129 loss at the Canton Charge.
Smith played 44 minutes and hit 24 of his 42 field-goal attempts and 16 of his 20 free throws for the 87ers, the 76ers' minor-league affiliate. Although he was just 1 for 5 from three-point range, he scored 32 points on layups. You can watch highlights of Smith going off in the video player above.
The game was nationally televised on ESPNU, and that added some extra sizzle to the accomplishment.
