City Council approves Sixers’ Center City arena proposal

The Philadelphia City Council on Thursday gave preliminary approval to the Sixers’ arena proposal for Market East. The votes went 12-4 in favor of the proposal.

A final vote will be conducted on Dec. 19, but that seems more like a formality at this point barring something unforeseen.

The vote was actually supposed to take place Wednesday, but was delayed as the team negotiated the price tag of a community benefits agreement.
