I’ll admit it. I was not a fan of Daryl Morey’s trade deadline move shipping Pat Beverley to Milwaukee in exchange for Cam Payne and a second-round pick. This is reason no. 937 why I’m a living room armchair GM and Morey is the real deal. Not only was Payne an upgrade to Beverley while netting the team a draft asset, but he was actually the better of the Philadelphia 76ers’ two deadline acquisitions. Buddy Hield, who the team shipped out three second-round picks to acquire, fizzled out after a hot start to his Sixers tenure (before almost turning it all around with an incandescent shooting display in Game 6 of the first round).
Cam Payne proved to be the Sixers’ best trade deadline acquisition
