76ers' Robert Covington has arthroscopic knee surgery

76ers small forward Robert Covington had surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee Tuesday at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia.

Sixers physician Christopher Dodson performed the arthroscopic procedure. Covington is expected to resume full weight bearing in two weeks and begin basketball activities this summer.

Covington said last week that recovery time is usually four to six weeks. However, he said he was told he could recover more quickly.

"It's nothing that's serious or anything," he said. "The MRI showed that it's just a baby tear."

Covington added that one of his options was extended rest.
