The Philadelphia 76ers finally brought an end to their NBA-record losing streak Tuesday night, beating the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 103-91 to stop the bleeding at 28 consecutive games (18 this season).
In addition to setting an NBA mark, the losing streak is the longest ever recorded in any of North America's four major professional sports leagues (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB), per the Associated Press.
There was an unusual amount of hype leading up to the game but not because it represented the 76ers' best chance to win in quite some time.
