Larry Drew II stood in front of the Sixers media horde at the team’s practice facility in Camden, jovial and enthusiastic. He was greeted by some familiar faces, and dapped with the ones he remembered.
At this point, late in the afternoon, Drew was exhausted — truly, exhausted — but it wasn’t plainly obvious, even after the 27-year-old point guard revealed that travel arrangements forced him to take a redeye from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Philadelphia, with a four-hour layover in Phoenix in between. There were flight delays involved.
Between Drew’s energy-sapping travel arrangements and the prompt introduction back into the Sixers organization after signing a 10-day contract on Tuesday, Drew said he didn’t sleep much.
