A popular narrative early in the NBA Western Conference playoffs is that Patty Mills is going to get paid this summer. I have spent some time re-thinking my initial feelings that TJ McConnell would probably outplay Mills in training camp and early in the season. For this reason I was intially opposed to a Mills signing.
But, as John Lennon said — time heals all wounds.
When really thinking about the pace-and-space offense that Brett Brown wants to run, I just struggle to envision TJ as a natural stylistic backup to Ben Simmons.
