The Process is dead. Long live The Process.
One of the most fascinating basketball experiments in NBA history officially ended when Philadelphia 76ers general manager and president of basketball operations Sam Hinkie resigned on Wednesday evening. After three seasons of tearing down the roster in order to rebuild through the draft and accumulated assets, Hinkie is leaving the organization.
The reason? As outlined in a 13-page letter to team equity partners—and obvious to anyone following the NBA: Team ownership cut Hinkie's legs out, marginalized his power and changed what affectionately became known as "The Process" of putting the franchise back on the winning track.
