We're a full week into the 2015 NBA free agency period, which means it's time to step back and assess where the Philadelphia 76ers have gone so far and where they're headed as the days go on. Here's our Sixers Free Agency Rumors Roundup: What We've Learned.
Sixers Are Keeping It Low-Key
The Philadelphia 76ers have sat out most of the NBA free agency craziness over the first week, with their biggest move being their inheritance of a Sacramento Kings salary dump headlined by 2014 first-round draft pick Nik Stauskas.
Other than that, the Sixers have stayed out of the melee -- preferring to target lesser-hyped options as they look to fill out the holes in their roster not currently occupied by top-level prospects or re-signed veteran role players.
That leads us too...
Philly In Play For Norris Cole?
The 76ers are pursuing New Orleans Pelicans backup point guard and restricted free agent Norris, per a Philadelphia Sun-Times report.
Cole was acquired by the Pelicans from the Heat last February in a three-team deal involving the Phoenix Suns. He upped his scoring average upon being dealt to New Orleans, posting 9.9 points per game in a reserve role.
The Pelicans are extremely interested in re-signing Cole, so it'll likely take a solid overpay for the Sixers to keep New Orleans from matching a potential offer sheet.
Cole will likely represent the apex of Philly's free-agent push with the team content to pursue role players for now as they continue their long-term rebuilding project.
