Those fans who thought the Philadelphia 76ers' would struggle at the point after trading away Michael Carter-Williams to the Milwaukee Bucks must be pleasantly surprised right about now.
Here's CSN Philly's Dei Lynam with a breakdown of how the 76ers' new guard tandem of Isaiah Canaan and Ish Smith are doing some solid work for Philadelphia:
Isaiah Canaan and Ish Smith give the Sixers a very different point guard look than Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten did. With MCW and Wroten, the team had size and a strong ability to attack the rim. With Canaan and Smith, they have shooters and fewer turnovers.
In 12 games with the Sixers, Canaan is averaging 13.5 points and 3.6 assists. He has 21 total turnovers, but 11 came in his first three games. He is shooting 36.2 percent from three-point range.
Smith is averaging 10.5 points and 5.8 assists. He has 24 turnovers in 11 games.
With Wroten injured and Carter-Williams starting anew in Milwaukee, Smith and Canaan have a chance to prove themselves as more than just serviceable NBA commodities for the rest of the season.
