The Philadelphia 76ers are finally starting to enter the next phase of "the process" by starting to build up their team for success, and free agency is a big part of that. They have the second most cap space out of anyone in the league, giving them plenty of money to spend on players they want. Here are three free agents they should target:
3) Courtney Lee
Not only would Lee give the Sixers a needed veteran presence, he would be their starting shooting guard and one of their go-to guys offensively. An exceptional shooter, Lee knows how to create his own offense - the kind of playmaking the Sixers don't have. He's also a very capable defender.
2) Harrison Barnes
Barnes wants more money than what Golden State seems willing to offer him, and as they start their own pursuit of Kevin Durant, they may been willing to let Barnes walk considering his poor play this postseason. Philadelphia would have to offer a lot more money than anyone else for him to sign with the Sixers, but he would relish the chance to be a more focal part of a team. Plus, he's only 23 years old would bring much-needed championship experience.
1) Jordan Clarkson
As absurd as it sounds, Philadelphia will have to offer Clarkson something close to a max contract to sign him since he is a restricted free agent. The Lakers want to spend their cap space on superstars, so they may not be willing to overpay for Clarkson. The 76ers have money to burn, so why not spend it on Clarkson?
An exciting, young, athletic point guard, the 23-year-old could step right into the starting lineup and keep that position for years to come. We know he's a dynamic scorer, averaging 15.5 points per game last year, but he has also proven to be a good playmaker when given the chance to play point guard. Philadelphia really needs backcourt help, and Clarkson could provide it while fitting into this young team.
