The start of NBA free agency is here, and the Philadelphia 76ers have money to spend. The 76ers already made one move, signing guard Jerryd Bayless on the first day of free agency. But the 76ers are still looking for another player or two. With that in mind, here are the three biggest Sixers storylines to watch for during the 2016 NBA offseason.
3. Any Vets?
The 76ers are a young team. The Lakers have already gone out and landed two veteran players, but will the 76ers do that same? Bayless counts as a veteran, but will there be any others? Another guard, like Courtney Lee could make sense.
2. Do They Trade A Big?
Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor is at least one big man too many. The Sixers explored moving Noel and Okafor during the draft, but weren't able to pull it off. They'll continue to explore trading away a big. Assuming Embiid is actually healthy (a big if at this point), they'll have issues finding minutes for everyone. With Noel's contract up after this year, he might be the one to get dealt.
1. Do They Land An RFA (Or Two)?
The 76ers wanted Jordan Clarkson and Evan Fournier, but they re-upped with the Lakers and Magic. However, there are still a few players left in the restricted free agent market the 76ers have been linked to. Allen Crabbe, Harrison Barnes and Dion Waiters have all been linked to the Sixers and would help provide scoring on the wing. While their teams can match any offer, the 76ers can still make an offer that will be tough to match. Of all the options here, this one seems like the most likely.
