Head Track Coach Robert Radnoti created an all-women’s indoor track team to compete with Pepperdine’s Division I peers and fulfill Title IX regulations in 2016. Now three years later, the 2019 indoor track season is in full swing.
“I think it’s really helped our women’s team,” Radnoti said. “It comes down to wanting to create a complete year-round running program.”
It also alleviates Title IX pressures, Radnoti said.
Title IX requires that university funding for athletics be apportioned in accordance with student-gender ratios, Radnoti said.
At Pepperdine, this means that it is statistically more difficult for males to make it onto the track team than females because Pepperdine’s student body is about 60 percent female.
