For the past 10 years, there wasn’t a Wild Card Series. Rather, it was a winner-takes-all single game played between the four and five seeds in each respective league in the MLB. But, in 2022, an extra team was added to the postseason in each league. Now the No. 3 plays the No. 6 and the No. 4 plays the No. 5 seed in a best of three game series.
