When the four Penn State seniors took the mat to compete last time in their collegiate career Saturday afternoon in Rec Hall, another senior, Quest Hayden, was sidelined due to an Achilles injury.
For gymnasts all over the world, especially in college gymnastics, this is a reality that each has to face.
“Your body just takes a pounding, it really does,” coach Randy Jepson said. “So, we try to spare that out over the season because we know it can only last so long.”
Gymnastics is one of the most physically demanding sports, it just comes with the territory of being a gymnast and competing at the college level.
