Penn State's star freshman earned a yearly honor Wednesday.
The Open Mat named Mitchell Mesenbrink as their NCAA Division One Freshman of the Year.

While competing at 165 lbs, Mesenbrink held a 26-1 record last season, including winning a Big Ten Championship and an appearance in the NCAA finals.
With three more years of eligibility, Mesenbrink has a great opportunity to build himself a great legacy at a storied Penn State program.
