Penn State traveled to Storrs, Connecticut, last weekend to take on No. 9 UConn in a two-game series.
The No. 12 Nittany Lions entered the series 1-1 after splitting their first series of the season with Northeastern the previous week.
Game 1: UConn 3, Penn State 2
Game 1 started slow with a scoreless first period. Penn State goalie Katie DeSa and Huskies goalie Tia Chan were the stars of the period, acting as brick walls in front of their respective nets.
Penn State forward Katelyn Roberts entered the contest on a two-game point streak, which continued on Friday with an assist to Stella Retrum that gave the blue and white its first lead of the game with around five minutes left in the second period.
