BLACKSBURG — This time, Cam Phillips stood on the sideline, watching Virginia Tech’s defense and knowing he had done his part.
A week earlier, Phillips couldn’t come down with a fourth-down pass in the end zone that could have beaten Georgia Tech. The Hokies lost and Phillips felt like he was to blame.
Saturday, in his final home game, Tech looked for Phillips again with the game hanging in the balance. Phillips made the catch, then watched the defense turn in an impressive four-play goal line stand to seal the 20-14 win over Pittsburgh on senior day.
