Vintage Penn State football: 'fireplug-style fullback' Mike Meade was there when they needed him

The Penn State Nittany Lions played Boston College on Oct. 10, 1981, at Beaver Stadium.

Penn State won, 38-7.

The Sunday Patriot-News staff writer Ronnie Christ wrote:

"Mike Meade was there just when Penn State needed him most. And so were Kenny Jackson and Todd Blackledge.

With Boston College keying on Curt Warner, the second-ranked Nittany Lions turned to fullback Mike Meade and to their sophomore pass-catch combo in a 38-7 romp over Boston College before 84,473 at Beaver Stadium Saturday.

Meade, the fireplug-style fullback who usually leads the blocking for Warner, picked up 107 yards on 13 carries.
