When he was a kid, Bobby Wolford would often wrestle his little brother, John. Probably not that surprising, given that they were 12 and 10 years old.
But the tussles almost always ended with Bobby putting John, the future Wake Forest quarterback, in a choke hold.
“I had to go over and break them up because John would not tap out. He just kept going, he just doesn’t quit,” their father, Dr. Robert Wolford, said.
It’s always been that way for John Wolford. The Deacons senior quarterback was pummeled in his first three seasons, thrown into the fire as a true freshman, playing through injuries in his sophomore and junior seasons, sacked 101 times in his first three seasons.
