After a frustrating loss, when the players look at the final stat sheet, one particular area stands out — turnovers.
Once again, Penn State’s slow start cost the team a game. Coach Coquese Washington blames the 64-59 loss to Virginia Tech (6-1) on her team’s 22 turnovers.
Throughout the first half, the Nittany Lions (3-4) had an “inordinate” amount of unforced errors, which contributed to the slow start, Washington said.
“If you’re in the 20s with turnovers, it’s hard to win,” the coach said. “It’s hard to be successful offensively.”
Early in the game, the Lions were not getting enough shots and were turning the ball over frequently.
