PASADENA, Calif. — HBO’s “Paterno,” directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson (“Rain Man”), is set in the immediate aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal.
The film, airing sometime this spring (no exact premiere date was announced), unfolds over a two-week period in November 2011 when Sandusky, Penn State football’s former defensive coordinator, was arrested, and legendary, beloved Penn State football coach Joe Paterno announced plans to retire in the wake of the charges before he was fired.
The film was shot in New York and will feature some footage from State College but was not shot on campus.
