Trojans overcome slow start to down Idaho

TROY – Fortunately for the Troy Trojans Thursday night, the old adage “it’s not how you start – it’s how you finish” rings true many times.

The Trojans overcame a sluggish first quarter and a half that included two turnovers and held on for a 24-21 win over the Idaho Vandals on Thursday night.

Senior quarterback Brandon Silvers lost a fumble and threw an interception in the red zone before the Trojan offense found a rhythm. The Vandals (3-6 overall, 2-3 Sun Belt Conference) converted the fumble, which came on a sack attempt, into a touchdown when senior quarterback Matt Linehan threw a 7-yard pass to Alfonso Onunwor with 3:02 left in the first quarter.
