Friday night’s dual started with a shock for the Nittany Lions, but then quickly returned to normal as Penn State comfortably defeated the Purdue Boilermakers for its record breaking 39th straight dual win.
At 125 pounds, the Nittany Lions elected to forfeit due to sickness, giving Purdue a 6-0 lead to begin the night.
In the first true bout of the night, Penn State’s Corey Keener squared off against Ben Thornton of Purdue. An uneventful first period resulted in a 0-0 start to the second, but it didn’t stay that way long, as Thornton used an escape to get out to a 1-0 lead, which is how the second period ended.
