The rivalries with Iowa and Minnesota are more heated. Games with Ohio State, Michigan State, Nebraska and Penn State have taken place on bigger stages.
But for thrills, spills and occasional fire drills, nothing over the past 25 years can match the University of Wisconsin’s series with Northwestern.
Whether you’re talking short-term — Northwestern is 2-1 in games against UW the past three seasons — or long-term — the Badgers hold a 10-9 edge since 1992 — Northwestern has been a thorn in UW’s side. Some have called the Wildcats spoilers because UW has generally been the better team, but that is a disservice to what has been a consistently competitive Northwestern program.
