UNIVERSITY PARK Unranked Villanova stunned the No. 12 Penn State men’s lacrosse team in overtime Saturday, beating the Nittany Lions 17-16 in the season opener.
The Nittany Lions led 14-9 heading into the fourth quarter — but the Wildcats rallied to outscore Penn State 7-2 in the final period to tie up the game. That resulted in overtime, where Villanova’s John Kluh scored an unassisted goal with 3:10 left to win.
Ryan Keenan scored five goals for the Nittany Lions, while Kevin Hill added three goals.
