COLUMBIA — Missouri's ace senior Cheyenne Baxter had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning of Friday night's contest against No. 21 Ole Miss.
That no-no lasted all of one out longer before Baxter walked a batter, hit one, and then junior Paige McKinney singled to short.
That's when a bit of controversy came into play as Baxter got the next batter, catcher Courtney Syrett, to a full count. The next pitch was high and inside, but Syrett did a check swing that Missouri (28-24, 6-15 SEC) fans immediately believed to be a full one based on the roar that followed the home plate umpire calling it a ball and a walk.
