Back to the Penn State Nittany Lions Newsfeed

These two true freshman are already leaving a mark on Penn State women’s volleyball

There’s no argument that the Penn State women’s volleyball teams of this century have been among the biggest sports dynasties in school history. As they approach a new era following the retirement of long-time national champion coach Russ Rose in 2021, the Nittany Lions are looking to claw their way back to the top with the help of two exceptional freshmen.

Head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley made a huge splash in recruiting ahead of her third season at the helm, landing the number one and number four overall players of the 2024 class. As two of the most coveted players in the nation, Ava Falduto and Izzy Starck both had an extensive list of accomplishments before landing in Happy Valley.
