Growing up in Firebaugh, California, high school athletes rarely have the luxury of playing just one sport.
"You grew up knowing you were going to play at least two if not three," Alex Gutierrez said. "That's just the way the kids are raised there. Because we can't afford to have one-sport athletes in our town. There's no way. It will hurt us, and it will hurt them also."
For Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen, that meant staying busy with football, basketball and baseball throughout the school year. Gutierrez coached Allen in all three of those sports at Firebaugh High School, as a head coach in baseball and an assistant in basketball and football.
