It’s July, so summer doldrums and all that. Still, it’s almost preseason, which means it’s almost the season, which means we’re starting to talk a bit more about football.

So, of course, we’ll start with basketball. Everyone was pleased to see Penn State hoops star Tony Carr selected 51st overall in last month’s NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, the first Penn Stater to be selected since 1999. Everyone was less enthused by Carr’s performance in the Vegas Summer League, in which he played substantial minutes off-ball and had a tough time showcasing the skills that led the Nittany Lions to the NIT Championship.
