On Sunday, I drove past the old Rosenblatt Stadium site. It’s tradition.
The zoo parking lot was packed, but 13th Street was pretty quiet. The Zesto building and sign are still up, which is kind of cool, but eerie. The marquee at Starsky’s still advertises tacos. Not today. They’ve moved to 78th and F.
I’m not sure why I make this sentimental trek every year at this time. I don’t recommend going back to see your old house. I did that a few years ago, in south Kansas City. My old house — a place of wonderful memories — was run down with a Chiefs blanket in one window where curtains should hang.
