UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The angles were questionable and the execution shaky. Some players were unable to make the tackles in the open field while others were just the next in line trying to unsuccessfully wrap up any number of Michigan players.
When grading out Penn State’s missed tackles in a 28-16 loss Saturday to No.12 Michigan, the formula defensive coordinator Bob Shoop explained earlier this season is that in order for Penn State to hit their tackling grade they must have 11 or fewer missed tackles, a number that takes into account one missed tackle per position.
