Alvin Kamara was the missing piece in the New Orleans Saints' kickoff return unit.
New Orleans already had the blocking.
The Saints just didn't have the right man to take advantage. With that in mind, New Orleans put Kamara back on kickoffs starting on Christmas Eve against the Atlanta Falcons, and the results have been spectacular.
Kamara returned one kick for 49 yards against Atlanta, then exploded for the longest play in Saints history against Tampa Bay, bringing back the first kick 106 yards for a touchdown.
"When we looked at how it's progressed over the past month, or maybe more, maybe five weeks, we can block; it's been obvious that our blocking has been pretty good," special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff said.
